Description

Churchside is an early to mid-18th century house and workshop, with later alterations. The building is constructed of red brick, colour-washed to the front, and has a pantile roof. It originally comprised a 2-room lobby-entry plan with a single-room workshop to the left, and it now includes a later rear outshut. The house is two storeys high with two windows on the first floor. A 20th-century door is set beneath a segmental header arch. To the right of the door is a 12-pane sliding sash window within a segmental-headed surround, and to the left a 20th-century 3-light casement window also within a segmental arch. An inserted entrance to the left has a 2-fold half-glazed board door with strap hinges, set beneath a soldier arch; a workshop window is located within a blocked doorway and features vertical glazing bars. The first floor has 6-pane sliding sash windows with lintels at eaves level. A large axial stack is present. The raised left gable has tumbled-in brickwork. Adjoining ranges to the rear are not of historical or architectural significance.
