Description

27 Westgate is a 18th-century building that stands two storeys tall with attics, constructed from brick and topped with a pantile roof featuring one dormer. The eaves are supported by paired brackets. The building has two windows on the upper floor, which are hung sashes with glazing bars and pedimented lintels; one of these sashes has been replaced. There is a similar window on the ground floor, accompanied by wooden shutters. The entrance features a modern door with a three-light rectangular fanlight and a lintel above. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 7 to 31 (odd) and the Avenue Hospital, stables, and wall, while No 21 (including former No 19) is noted for its local interest.
