Description
The Headmaster's House is a house built in 1854 by Cuthbert Brodrick. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features a two-window front. It has a chamfered plinth and quoins. On the left side, there is a projecting two-storey porch that contains a boarded door with scrolled hinges set in a pointed chamfered surround. To the right of the porch, there is a three-light window with margin-pane glazing beneath a chamfered pointed arch. A moulded string course runs along the first floor. Above the door, there is a lancet window, and to the right, there are two-light windows, each featuring margin-pane glazing in a chamfered surround with pointed heads. The eaves cornice is moulded and adorned with grotesques. The porch has a coped parapet with a quatrefoil, while the right side has a coped gablet with a cinquefoil. The building also has raised coped gables and ridge cresting, with an external end stack located to the right.
