Description
The Old School House is a late 18th-century brick house located on the south side of Highgate in Cherry Burton. It is constructed of brown brick with a pantiled roof. The two-storey, three-bay façade has a central door of six raised and fielded panels, with an overlight containing glazing bars. This is flanked by 16-pane sashes with sills, all set beneath cambered, gauged brick arches. The first floor has three similar sashes, with the left bay’s sash being narrower. A dentilled brick eaves cornice runs along the top of the building, and there is an end stack to the right. The brickwork to the raised gable on the right side has tumbled, and the roof on the left is hipped.
