Description

This is a terrace of four houses located on Bridge Street, Port Sunlight, built in 1894. The houses were destroyed during the Second World War and subsequently rebuilt in 1947. They are timber-framed with a stone base and have a tile roof with some shingled sections. The terrace is six bays wide, with the end and central bays projecting under gabled roofs. The sixth bay has a shingled first-floor bay window that sweeps out as a canopy over the ground floor on the left side. The windows are casements with leaded glass. The ground floor features a three-bay canted window to the third, fourth, and sixth bays, with hipped roofs on the windows to the third and fourth bays, and a small window to the first bay. The first floor has transomed three-light windows to the central bays, paired two-light windows beneath gablets to the flanking bays, a three-light gabled oriel window with flanking two-light windows to the first bay, and a six-light window to the sixth bay. The entrances have overlights and doors with leaded lights. There are three chimney stacks running across the building. The left return features a canted bay window and projecting gabled half-dormer. The rear elevation has small-paned casement windows and end gables.
