Description

This building is a grain warehouse, constructed in 1868 by G. F. Lister. It is made of brick with stone dressings and stands six storeys tall, measuring 24 by 5 bays. The base features rock-faced stone and quoins, along with a sill course at the first floor and a corbelled parapet at the top. The windows have projecting brick segmental lintels with key and impost stones, and most of them contain 3-light casements, with the outer lights being louvred. One end bay includes a one-stage turret topped with a pavilion roof, which is connected by a bridge to a corresponding turret on the warehouse to the north of Grain Warehouse Dock. The fourth, tenth, fourteenth, and twentieth bays serve as loading bays that project forward. The south facade facing East Float has a projecting bay with open arches on the ground floor.
