Description

A pair of houses dating from the 1840s and 1850s, designed by Walter Scott as part of the original development of Clifton Park, a villa estate. The houses are built of stucco, with some areas now pebbledashed, and have a Welsh slate roof. They are two storeys high, with a symmetrical design featuring side entrances and a four-window arrangement on the main facade. The outer bays project forward, each with a canted bay window with a parapet to the ground floor, and sash windows with 12 panes, which are replacements in original openings. The main elevation also has tripartite sash windows with cast-iron fluted colonettes to the ground floor, with renewed 12-pane sash windows above in stressed architraves. A moulded cornice and parapet run along the top of the building. The side entrances are framed by moulded architraves with pediments supported by heavy brackets.
