Description
The wall and piers on the south and west side of the Church of Saint Aidan date from the early 18th century, with 20th-century gates. The stone wall extends approximately 33.5 meters along the west side of the churchyard and 40 meters along the south side, forming a canted angle, with an additional 23 meters on the east side. The wall features weathered coping with a top roll moulding. The west gate piers are adorned with fielded panels and recessed quarter columns at the angles, topped with Doric entablatures and urn finials. The south gate has square piers with ball finials. An inscription on the inner side of the west wall commemorates the grave of J. Liptrot from the 18th century.
