Description
The tomb of George and Kitty Smith is located approximately 3 meters south of the fourth bay of the nave of the Church of Saint Aidan. It dates from 1720 and is made of stone, designed in the shape of a coffin with rings at both ends. The upper end of the top features a low relief curtain with a snake encircling a winged skull, along with an inscribed riband above, although the inscription is illegible. The top of the curtain has an inscription that is mostly unreadable, except for the date, which appears to have been re-cut. Below the curtain, there is another inscription that records the names of George and Kitty Smith.
