Description
Tan House Farmhouse is a house that likely dates from the early to mid 18th century, with an earlier rear wing. It is constructed of brick, with some stone, and has a slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and features three bays, with bands between the floors. The windows have gauged brick cambered arches and brick sills, and the casements are not symmetrically placed, with two windows on the second floor. The porch has a Dutch gable and a round-headed entrance. Above the entrance, there is a stone plaque with rococo scroll work and a mask at the bottom, which may have originally included a date and the Sefton arms. The rear wing is lower and has a stone base, along with some horizontally sliding sash windows. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reported to have original doors and a staircase with turned balusters.
