Description
This building is a cottage likely converted from a coach-house, located at the south end of a cart shed west of Crosby Hall Educational Trust. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and underwent alterations in the later 19th century. The structure is made of coursed squared sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and random rubble infill, while the sides and rear are constructed of random rubble. It features a brick chimney and a slate roof, with a small rectangular plan.
The single-storey facade has a gabled design and includes a segmental-arched former coach entrance, which is framed by a rusticated ashlar surround that features a keystone. This entrance is now filled with rubble masonry, with a doorway to the left and a small square six-pane window to the right. A rubble screen wall with rounded coping ramps down from the front right corner and connects to the former cart shed. The interior has not been inspected. This cottage forms part of a group with the buildings of Crosby Hall Educational Trust, which it faces to the east.
