Description

170 and 172 Chatham Street are two houses built in the 1820s. They are made of brick with stone dressings and have a slate roof. Each house has three storeys and a basement, with two bays. There is a basement lintel band, a first-floor sill band, and a top frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The windows feature wedge lintels, while the round-headed entrances have plastered arches, panelled doorcases, and six-panel doors. There are plain iron railings for the areas and steps. Number 170 has small-paned casements and complete fanlights, while number 172 has sash windows with glazing bars.
