Description

This house, number 163 Chatham Street, was built in the 1820s. It is a stucco-faced building with a slate roof, originally listed with numbers 161 to 173. The two-storey house has a basement and three bays. A sill band runs across the first floor, and there is a decorative cornice and blocking course at the top of the front elevation. The windows are sash windows, with those on the first floor having architraves and glazing bars. The central entrance is round-headed, framed by a Doric doorcase with fluted columns and an archivolt. It features a complete fanlight above a four-panel door. Plain iron railings enclose the area and steps leading to the front door.
