Description

The Dell is a series of rock pools, also known as The Fairy Glen, dating from around 1870. It is constructed from rough sandstone blocks and slabs, serving as a "spring" for the Boating Lake. The uppermost pool is approximately 25 feet wide, with banks rising up to 12 feet high on the northern side. This pool features overhanging slabs that create waterfalls. The outflow from this pool is directed through three smaller pools of a similar design. The Dell is likely a feature of the original design and was certainly proposed by the designers, Andre and Hornblower.
