Description
No. 40 Upper Parliament Street is a house built in the 1820s. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building stands three storeys high with a basement and features five bays. There is a basement lintel band, a first-floor sill band, and a top cornice with a blocking course. The windows have wedge lintels and are sashed without glazing bars. The central entrance is highlighted by an Ionic porch and a six-panel door. Above the entrance, there is a window flanked by pilasters with wreathed consoles and a 20th-century iron balcony. The area is enclosed by plain iron railings and steps.
