Description
Dove Cottages, formerly the stables of the now-demolished Dovecot Hall, date from the early 19th century. In the early 21st century, the building was extended and converted from two cottages into seven apartments. The structure is finished in stucco with a slate roof and consists of two storeys and eight bays, with the central two bays projecting forward beneath a pediment. It features a first-floor sill band, a top cornice, and a parapet. The windows have four-centred heads, moulded surrounds, and impost blocks, and they are sash windows with glazing bars, topped with tympana that have intersecting tracery. The second and seventh bays have entrances similar to the windows, although the entrance in the second bay lacks a tympanum, which was added in 1984. The central two bays contain garage doors and a glazed lean-to canopy supported by two iron columns, while the third bay features a garage entrance. The first, third, and eighth bays previously had blind windows on the first floor designed to imitate sash windows. The pediment originally had a clock face, which is missing as of 1984. The right return to the street includes a cornice and parapet that conceal the gable, along with a 20th-century door and window above it.
