Description
57-61 Canning Street is a row of three houses, likely built in the mid-19th century, specifically the 1830s. The buildings are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature a slate roof. They rise three storeys with a basement. No 57 has three sets of windows arranged in two bays, No 59 has four bays, and No 61 has three bays. Architectural details include a basement lintel band, a first-floor sill band, and a top frieze with a cornice and blocking courses. The windows have wedge lintels and are fitted with sashes that include glazing bars. Each entrance is adorned with Ionic porches and four-panel doors. The areas and steps are enclosed with iron railings that have decorative heads. Notably, No 59 features iron balconies on the first floor, while No 57 has a bowed return with two first-floor iron balconies.
