Description
A terrace of sixteen houses built in the 1830s, located on Huskisson Street and including numbers 167 and 169 Bedford Street South. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings and have a slate roof. They are three storeys high with a basement, and each house originally had three bays, although number 25 has five bays. Numbers 25 and 27, and 47, 49, and 51 project slightly forward.
The facades are arranged with a horizontal banding of detail, including a lintel band at basement level, a sill band at first floor level, a top frieze, a cornice, and a blocking course. The windows have wedge-shaped lintels and are sash windows with glazing bars. Most have a blind window in the second floor. The entrances are framed by Ionic porches with mostly two-panel doors. Decorative iron railings are present to the areas and steps.
Number 25 has a three-bay return to Bedford Street South with mostly blind windows. Numbers 29 and 31 feature first-floor iron balconies projecting over their porches. Number 33 was derelict in 1984 and retains the remains of a balcony, but lacks railings and windows. Numbers 35, 37, and 39 have first-floor iron balconies, while number 41 contains small-paned casement windows and the base of first-floor iron balconies. Number 51 also has a first-floor iron balcony.
