Description

The railway bridge dates from 1828-30 and was constructed for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, under the direction of G Stephenson. It is built of dressed stone with ashlar dressings. The main feature is a round arch with a band and parapet, flanked by forward abutments. There is a segmental-arched extension to the south side.
