Description
66 Roby Road is a house that once housed shops, built around 1840 with a later extension. The building is made of brick with stone details, cast iron work, and a slate roof. It has two storeys and three bays, with the third bay added later. The end bays project under gables, while the second bay features a hipped roof on its former right return.
On the ground floor, the first bay has a two-light window and a one-light window in an eared architrave, with the single light being a former entrance. Both windows have round heads and glazed spandrels. The second bay has a similar arrangement but is reversed and retains a door. The third bay features a similar three-light window.
The first floor has sashed windows, with those in the end bays having wedge lintels. An ornate cast iron verandah has round-arched openings in front of the windows and pointed openings in front of the entrances, supported by paired uprights at the ends, a frieze, and paired brackets at the eaves. The third bay has similar cast iron work but lacks spandrels or brackets. There are two brick stacks on the roof.
