Description
Roby Toll House is an early 19th-century house located on Roby Road in Huyton-with-Roby. It is constructed of painted brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building is one storey high with an attic and features a rectangular bay window and a porch, which is now enclosed, under a hipped roof. The right side of the house has a second bay that projects forward under a gable. The first bay includes a canted bay window under a hipped roof, while the second bay has a two-light casement window above a low lean-to extension. The windows are fitted with small-paned casements, and there is a central cross-axial stack. The house is included for its group value, and the turnpike road it sits on dates back to 1723.
