Description

The railway bridge, built between 1828 and 1830, was designed for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway by engineer George Stephenson. It is constructed of stone and features a segmental arch made with rusticated voussoirs. The bridge is topped with a modillioned cornice and has a parapet, with flanking abutments on either side.
