Description
Duckworth Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble and features a corrugated iron roof over thatch. The building has a lobby-entry plan and consists of one storey with an attic, comprising three bays. The first and second bays contain two-light and three-light windows with timber mullions and glazing bars. The right-hand bay features a two-light stone window that is rebated and chamfered, complete with a mullion and hood. The first and second bays also have attic windows; the left-hand one has two lights with a timber mullion, while the right-hand one is a dormer with three lights, rebated and chamfered, with stone mullions. The door is located between the second and third bays and has rendered reveals. There is a chimney on the left-hand gable and a large stack aligned with the door. The interior is said to include a firehood bressumer and upper crucks. The building will be described and illustrated by R.C. Watson and M.E. McClintock in their upcoming book on houses in the Claughton area.
