Description

Walmsley Bridge is a bridge over the River Brock, likely built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features a single elliptical arch with voussoirs that have alternate rustication. Below the solid parapet, there is a band, and the western parapet is inscribed with 'Walmsley Bridge AD 1883', which may indicate the year the bridge was taken over by the County Council. Additionally, there is a second, cruder inscription that reads 'TR 1879'. Part of this bridge is located in Claughton Civil Parish.
