Description

The boundary stone is a 19th-century boundary marker post located on Bilsborrow Lane. It is a low stone post with a triangular shape and a sloping upper face that has the inscription 'BOUNDARY'. The left side of the stone is inscribed with 'GOOSNARGH PRESTON RURAL DISTRICT', while the right side reads 'BILSBORROW GARSTANG RURAL DISTRICT'. These marker posts are important historical features that signify both civil and ecclesiastical boundaries, and they contribute to our understanding of the development of road transport and communication networks.
