Description

Bilsborough Hall is a large house built around 1912 and extended in 1924. It is constructed from snecked sandstone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The design reflects a 17th-century vernacular style, characterized by rebated and chamfered mullioned windows. The main facade includes a symmetrical three-bay block with three gables. The outer bays on the ground floor have single-storey bay windows with four lights at the front and one light on each return wall, while the middle bay has two one-light windows. The first-floor windows consist of three lights.

To the left, there is a lower range with a one-bay cross-wing that projects slightly. This cross-wing has a four-light window on the ground floor and a three-light window above. To the right, a lean-to porch roof covers a three-light window next to the door, with a two-light window above it under a small gable. A projecting wing added in 1924 is located at the left of the facade and contains a music room, with deposited plans available in the Lancashire Record Office. This wing features a gabled bay with one-light windows that connects it to the original building. The added wing also includes a two-storey canted bay window with six lights and a transom in the center on the ground floor, and three lights in the center and one light on each outer side on the first floor. Above the bay, under the coped gable, there is a one-light attic window. The chimneys have grouped square shafts.

Inside, the entrance hall showcases 17th-century style panelling, an inglenook fireplace, and a dog-leg stair with turned balusters and a moulded handrail. The music room features a decorated plaster ceiling in an early 17th-century style.
