Description
Town End Farmhouse is a house built in 1694, with some alterations. It is constructed of brick and has a corrugated asbestos roof over thatch. The building has a 2-cell plan and is 1 ½ storeys high. The windows feature plain reveals. To the left of the door, there is a 6-pane sash window, with a modern window above it under the eaves. To the right of the door, there is another 6-pane sash window, with a modern window immediately above it. At the far right, there is a small window. Above the door, there is a plaque inscribed 'EWA 1694'. To the left of the left window, at window head level, there are three brick corbels supporting the brickwork above. Below this level, there are projecting brick quoins. The chimney is aligned with the door. Inside, the door opens into a lobby next to the hearth. The bressumer has been replaced with a slim boxed beam, and the two axial main joists are insubstantial. The current fireplace dates from the late 19th century.
