Description

This milestone, likely from the early 19th century, is made of sandstone and features cast-iron plates. The base is rounded in shape, while the upper part is triangular. The base is inscribed with the word 'FORTON'. The left-hand plate reads 'LANCASTER VI MILES', and the right-hand plate states 'GARSTANG IIII 3/4 MILES'.
