Description

A barn, probably dating from the early to mid-18th century, stands approximately 30 metres north-west of Lowe's Farmhouse in Newburgh. The barn is constructed of coursed yellow sandstone rubble, with a dilapidated stone slate roof. It has seven bays aligned north-south, featuring a central waggon entrance flanked by continuous outshuts on the east side. Various windows have been inserted or altered into the outshuts. A loft is accessible by steps in the south gable, leading to a loft within the outshut. The interior retains a fine king-post roof with pegged trusses, fishbone struts, scarf-jointed purlins with run-out stops and chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
