Description
Mawdesleys Farmhouse with an attached barn is a farmhouse and barn built in a laithe-house style, likely from the mid to late 18th century. It has been enlarged and altered over time. The structure is made of brown brick arranged in English garden wall bond, with slate and stone slate roofs. The farmhouse features a single-depth, two-unit plan with an added range at the back and a two-bay barn extending to the right. The house has two low storeys and two windows, with a central lean-to porch. Each floor has two segmental-headed, three-light windows, all of which are small-paned casements. There is a ridge chimney and a gable chimney, both featuring water-tabling that indicates a former thatched roof. The added rear range includes sliding sash windows. The barn has undergone alterations, including the early removal of the former wagon doorway on one side, although the stone bases of the jambs still remain.
