Description
Lock Cottage is a canal lock-keeper's cottage, now a private dwelling, built around 1781 and altered since. It features roughcast render painted white and a composition tile roof. The building has a rectangular two-unit plan positioned at right angles to the canal, with the left gable built into the raised towpath. It has two low storeys and two windows, all of which are three-light casements with raised sills and altered glazing. There are gable chimneys, and the entrance is located in the right-hand gable wall, now covered by a large glazed 20th-century porch or conservatory. The cottage is included for its group value.
