Description
Runnel Brow Bridge, located on the boundary between Burscough and Lathom, is a public road bridge over the Rufford Branch Canal, built around 1781. The resident engineer for the project was Richard Owen, and it was constructed for the Leeds-Liverpool Canal Company. The bridge is made of coursed squared sandstone and features a parapet of rendered brick. It has a semi-elliptical arch with plain voussoirs, a plain band, and plain terminal pilasters. The bridge is part of a group that includes a canal lock located approximately 50 meters to the north.
