Description

Lock Cottage is likely a lock-keeper’s cottage, now a house, probably built around 1796, coinciding with the construction of the adjacent entrance lock to the Ulverston Canal. The cottage is roughcast with a slate roof. It has a deep plan and presents a single-storey, three-window façade. The windows are set in plain reveals with projecting sills. Two of the windows to the left of the door are 6-pane sashes, while the window to the right is also a sash window. The right-hand gable is coped and punctuated by a chimney. A second chimney rises behind the ridge line, located to the right of the second window.
