Description

Ford House, now part of a school, was built in 1835 and is attributed to George Webster. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a hipped slate roof. The main block is a symmetrical building of two storeys and three bays, incorporating a plinth, a first-floor sill band, an eaves band, and overhanging bracketed eaves. The windows are sash windows with plain reveals. The north-facing entrance front features a central, single-storey porch with a cornice and blocking course, and windows set within its side walls. A lower two-storey wing extends to the east. South-facing windows have been enlarged in the 20th century. The interior entrance hall features a tiled floor and a dogleg staircase with an open string, turned balusters, and a wreathed handrail.
