Description
No. 153 on School Lane is a house that likely dates back to around 1800, with some remnants from the 17th century. It has been altered in the late 20th century. The exterior features painted stone rubble and render, along with parts of a cruck frame. The roof is thatched and has a half-hipped design. The house is one storey high, and the windows are 20th-century casements. The left-hand part of the house, which is made of painted stone, has two windows and a doorway with plain reveals situated between them. To the right, there is a rendered wall with two additional windows. A 20th-century lean-to porch is attached to the right-hand gable, and a chimney is located between the two main sections of the house. Inside, the right-hand part features a central cruck truss made of light scantling, with raking struts connecting the tie-beam and blades, as well as a collar. Above the tie-beam level, the upper part of a second cruck truss can be seen, which includes a collar and an exposed outrider.
