Description
Downholland Hall is a house dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of brick in an irregular bond, with squared sandstone detailing, and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features three irregular bays. The windows are mullioned and have plastered surrounds, recessed on the ground floor. The right-hand bay has a stone ground floor with a drip course extending over the doorway to its left, featuring an 8-light window, painted to appear stone. The ground-floor window of the middle bay has 4 lights and a brick hood. The left-hand bay contains a 6-pane sash window with a plastered surround. The first-floor windows all have 5 lights. The studded door, fitted with strap hinges, has a chamfered surround with a canted head. There are chimneys positioned to the left and between the first and second bays. The gables are coped; the right-hand gable has a finial. The interior was not accessible during a survey in March 1987.
