Description
Delph Farm Cottage and Hillhouse Farm is a house built in 1673, with mid and late 19th-century additions. The early part of the building is constructed from sandstone rubble, while the later sections are made of brick, topped with a slate roof.
The original section features a ground-floor window with plain reveals and a flat brick arch. On the first floor, there is a 5-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window. Above this window is a plaque inscribed with 'EFM 1673'. To the right of the ground-floor window, there is a doorway with plain reveals that has been blocked with brickwork. Adjacent to this is the current doorway, which is sheltered by a slated canopy. The gable is coped, and to the left, there is a brick lean-to addition. To the right, there are additional sections with three gables, the rightmost of which is later and set back. These sections feature sash windows with glazing bars.
