Description
Church House is a 17th-century farmhouse with later alterations, located on Southport Road in Lydiate. The building features a brick structure set on a stone base, topped with a slate roof. It is two stories high and has two bays, with a rear wing that runs parallel to the road.
On the ground floor, there is a three-light mullioned window adorned with a cogged frieze and a brick label mould. The first floor includes a stair window and a two-light horizontally sliding sash window, both of which have glazing bars. The entrance is marked by a six-panel door, where the lower four panels are fielded and the upper two are glazed.
To the left, there is a projecting lateral stack, while a smaller lateral stack is positioned to the right. The left side of the building facing the road has a band over the ground floor, which is interrupted by significant early 20th-century rebuilding that includes three contemporary windows. The rear of the house features a painted blind window. The wing, which serves as a stable, has three-light casements facing the road and has been partly rebuilt. The rear of the wing is partially constructed of stone and includes a stable door and a pitching eye.
