7/69 Mill Hill Cottage - - II
House, dated 1691, later extended and altered. Brick with stone quoins, slate roof with projecting gable eaves. One ridge chimney stack, 2 gable chimneys. Gable end to road; plan of 2 bays originally, 3rd added c. mid- C19. Two storeys, with stone quoins to ground floor of original house; door to 3rd bay, blocked former door at right side of 2nd bay, with stone lintel lettered HSA ; 1691 2 casement windows left of this on each floor, similar windows to each bay in rear wall: all present openings at ground floor have segmental brick heads, and those above hug the eaves. Blocked former windows with brick mullions and hoodmoulds are visible in left gable, one at ground floor and 2 above; similar hoodmould in rear wall of 2nd bay, in line with chimney stack. Some blocked very small single-light windows at 1st floor in front and rear walls, said to have intact diamond-leaded glazing now concealed. Interior: inglenook fireplace with large ovolo-moulded bressummer, pair of similarly moulded and stopped bridging beams; 2 service rooms in 1st bay, one containing stairs with turned balusters and moulded handrail.
