Description
Pasture House Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble with a stone slate roof and features a three-cell plan across two storeys. The left-hand cell, which may have been added later, includes double-chamfered mullioned windows with six lights on the ground floor and four lights on the first floor. On the first floor to the left, there is a rendered chamfered surround with a central splayed mullion and a projecting sill. On the ground floor to the left, there is a chamfered door surround of late 19th-century style made of rock-faced stone.
The right-hand two-cell section of the house consists of three bays and has windows featuring inner ovolo moulding and outer chamfer, with three lights on the ground floor and two on the first floor. The left-hand first-floor window is an exception, having a rendered chamfered surround, a projecting sill, and a central splayed mullion. On the ground floor to the left, there is a fire window with plain reveals. The door in the central bay has a plain stone surround and a hood made of two pitched stone slates. There are end chimneys, along with a third chimney located to the right of the left-hand cell. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey. Notably, the first Nonconformist ordination in Yorkshire occurred here in 1678, as recorded by T. Whitehead in his 1930 work, History of the Dales Congregational Churches.
