Description

Lower Birkett Farmhouse is a house built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and has a stone slate roof. The building features a central-entry plan with end stacks and is two storeys high, with two bays on the south side. The windows are sashed with glazing bars and are set in plain stone surrounds, including the front door, which also has a plain stone surround. On the north wall, there is a sashed window with glazing bars in a plain stone surround to the right, and to the left, a double sash window with a plain stone surround and a square stone mullion. On the first floor, there is an 8-light weaving window with square mullions and small panes, which includes some fixed lights and some sashed with glazing bars.
