Description
The Mill is a building and store constructed in 1840, with later 19th-century additions. It is made of sandstone rubble with rock-faced sandstone dressings and has a slate roof. The structure has three storeys and features a main block with three parallel pitched roofs running from the northwest to the southeast. To the southwest, there is a later block with two pitched roofs in parallel, which does not extend as far southeast, along with lower additions.
The building presents five gables with copings to the northwest. Under the two left-hand gables, there are wide tall doorways with segmental arches and projecting keystones. Above each doorway are three small window openings with plain stone surrounds, and the second gable also features a loading door. The section of the building beneath the third gable appears to be original, though it has a straight joint on the front wall. This part includes a three-storey loading door, which is now partly blocked, along with two windows that have plain stone surrounds and glazing bars.
The two later gabled sections on the right have windows with plain stone surrounds and glazing bars, as well as a door on both the ground and first floors. The rear of the original portion has small openings with plain stone surrounds on each floor. The southeast wall has a central loading door on each floor, with the ground floor door lacking a plain stone surround and being roughly broken through.
