Description

The Punch Bowl Inn is a public house dated 1793, as indicated by a plaque above the door, with a mid-19th century addition to the east. It may have originally been a pair of cottages with a barn to the west, which has now been converted to form part of the pub. The building is constructed of squared watershot sandstone and has a slate roof, rising to two storeys.

The 18th-century section consists of two bays with end stacks, featuring sashed windows with glazing bars set in plain stone surrounds. There are two central plain stone door surrounds, with the right-hand one being blocked. To the right, the former barn is visible, which has a double sash window in a plain stone surround, accompanied by a single sash window to its right. On the left side, there is a taller bay that appears to be of the same construction, also with sashed windows with glazing bars in plain stone surrounds and a blocked doorway to the left.

The 19th-century addition, made of larger sandstone blocks, has a moulded cornice. The left-hand bay of this addition features blank plain stone window surrounds, while the right-hand bay includes a door and a first-floor window, both with similar surrounds, and the window is sashed with glazing bars. The left-hand return wall, which is visible from the road, has two bays with plain stone surrounds to sashed windows with glazing bars, except for the central first-floor window, which is modern.
