Description
The Flat is a cottage that originated as an agricultural building in the 17th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and has a modern tile roof. The building is one storey high with an attic. On the left side of the south wall, there are two doors with plain stone surrounds and a central window also featuring a plain stone surround. Above the right-hand door, there is a pitching hole with plain reveals. Further to the right, there is another door with a plain stone surround and a window with plain reveals to its left. At the right end of the wall, there is a three-light double-chamfered mullioned window. The east gable includes a door with plain reveals on the ground floor, a chamfered ventilation slit above it, and a chimney. Inside, there is a shouldered stone fireplace. In the loft, there are three 17th-century king-post trusses with raking queen struts.
