Description

Number 21 and the barn adjoining to the east are a house and barn built in 1835. They are constructed from coursed watershot limestone with sandstone dressings and feature a stone slate roof. The house and barn are designed in a symmetrical composition that reflects a vernacular style. The building has two storeys.

The windows have chamfered stone surrounds and hoods. The house consists of one bay, with a 6-light mullioned and transomed window on the ground floor and a 3-light mullioned window on the first floor. The door, located to the left, is studded with ornamental hinges and features a chamfered stone surround with a Tudor-arched head and hood. To the right of the door, there is a chimney with two diagonal caps. The left-hand gable has a coping with footstones.

The barn, situated to the right of the house, has a wide entrance with a chamfered stone surround, a Tudor-arched head, and a hood. The windows on the barn mirror those of the house, although the first-floor window has lost its mullions. There is also a doorway on the right side of the barn that has similar details to the other openings. Above the wide entrance, there is a worn heraldic device inscribed with '?L 1855'. The right-hand gable of the barn also features a coping with a footstone.
