13/27 Church Gates No. 5 - GV II

House, probably late C18th, partly re-fronted mid-to-late C19th. Punched sandstone ashlar with slate roof. Double-pile plan with central entry and end stacks. 2 storeys, 5 bays. Facade has string course, 2 sill bands and a bracketed cornice. On each side of the porch is a single ground-floor window, double-chamfered with 4 large mullioned lights and a hood. The 1st floor windows have plain reveals and a wooden mullion and transom. The gabled single-storey porch has an outer doorway with double-chamfered surround and Tudor- arched head with hood. The inner doorway is of later C18th type. It has Tuscan pilasters and a fanlight with intersecting glazing bars within a semi-circular head which is partly within an open pediment. At the rear on the 1st floor are 2 sashed windows each with plain stone surround and a central square mullion. A central stair window has glazing bars and a plain stone surround with semi-circular head and projecting keystone and impost blocks.
