5/54 Obelisk in garden c.20 metres west of Bushell's Hospital 11.11.1966 GV II

Obelisk, dated 1841 by inscription. Dressed sandstone. Square pedestal with moulded base and cap, fielded panel in each side; obelisk with moulded base, a ball at each corner on which the needle appears to stand. The panel on the east side of the pedestal is lettered:

THIS OBELISK/ WAS ERECTED/ A.D. 1841/ WHEN THE HOSPITAL/ OF/ GOOSNARGH/ WAS ENLARGED/ AS A RECORD TO THE/ MEMORY OF/ WILLIAM BUSHELL M.D./ ITS BENEVOLENT FOUNDER.
