Description
This milestone, located on the west side of the road in front of numbers 931 and 933, dates from the mid to late 18th century. It is a convex triangular stone with a rounded top, approximately 0.75 meters high. Each of the two sides facing the road features recessed panels with cursive script that reads: "To Garstang 4 ¾ Miles" and "To Preston 6 Miles." The milestone was erected by the Preston and Garstang Turnpike Trust, which was established in 1751, and it is one of ten such milestones that remain in an unbroken sequence.
