Description
Elston Cottage is an 18th-century farmhouse that has been altered and is now used as a house. It is constructed of coursed squared red and yellow sandstone with quoins and has a slate roof, with stone slate at the rear and a single gable chimney. The building has a double-depth, two-bay plan and is two storeys high with a symmetrical facade. The former central doorway has been changed into a window, and there are two 3-light windows with slightly recessed chamfered mullions on each floor. To the left of the gable wall, there is a modern garage with a pitched roof, and to the right, a glazed conservatory. The rear of the cottage features three 2-light windows similar to those at the front, and a doorway that has been altered into a window, opposite the front doorway. Inside, there have been changes to the internal partitions, but some large square beams and stout joists remain.
