Description
Dent Howe Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1604, with early 17th-century features. It is constructed of stone with quoins and has a stone slate roof. The building has a T-plan layout with a gable baffle entry and stands two storeys tall.
On the ground floor, there is one 2-light window, one 5-light window, and one 4-light window, with some lights retaining their glazing bars. The upper floor features four 2-light windows, all of which have moulded stone mullions. The farmhouse has gable stacks, and the left-hand return includes a Tudor arched door.
Inside, there are similar doorways and original oak doors, some of which are oak pegged. The original stone spiral staircase has wooden-covered treads and risers. Several stone fireplaces include a beehive oven, and some original oak partitioning can be found in the kitchen. All rooms feature massive oak beams. There is a possibility that the dated stone may have been reused from another site.
